Other renewable energy technologies such as solar energy might be more suitable. The BBC reported on 24.1.11 on plans for a solar farm outside Plymouth – 25 acres with solar panels 2.2m high mounted on metal poles with grazing strips in between supposed to power 1,000 homes and raise an estimated £25,000 a year. These would cause little or no annoyance, damage to wildlife, or loss of visual landscape amenity if positioned on high level ground which was not overlooked.
South hams opposing commercial turbines (SHOCT)
We are a group of local residents in the Harberton and Harbertonford area who believe that the proposal by TRESOC (Totnes renewable energy society) for wind turbines at Luscombe Cross is unacceptable and should be opposed. We are also concerned about the possible spread of such applications in the South Hams. Please sign our petition and show your support.
